All Browsers Only Displays Texts On This Particular Websites

Hi Guys,

I am having a problem with 2 sites, Facebook.com and Firefox.com. It seems that I cannot view it correctly. I have two PCs (dual core) interlinked by a D-link DI-604,all browsers that I use (firefox,i.e.,wyzo,google chrome) are updated and has clean caches. First I noticed that when I check out this 2 sites it displays only the links of the site. On some occasions, the other pc (lets call it pc1 and pc2), pc2 displays the site correctly, on some occasions PC1 displays it right. This has been going on for 3 days.

Other sites seem to work fine.


I have attached a screenshot of what I see when I load this browsers. Im scared that it might be a sign of some imminent problem on the computers. I use the computers for freelancing work,please help.

Does this happen with every browser?

It appears as if your browser is set to "no style" In firefox look in the View tab at the top and then Page style. Is "No Style" selected?

 

Thanks for the prompt reply BeeCeeBee, I so much appreciate it. No, Basic style is selected. When the page is "ok" on one particular computer, say PC1, all of the browsers displays it correctly, i had a chat with firefox
help and they told me the site was ok, then I accessed the site in PC2 and it was here at PC1 it is corrupted.

 

Now pc1 displays it correctly

 

Further to what has been posted.

I have read that this behaviour could be caused by a corrupt Windows user account.
Make a new account from the User Accounts section of Control Panel, log into it and try the same sites again under the various browsers.


I have never experienced this problem so can't say for sure that this suggested fix will work.

 

Hmmm. The screenshots that you sent appear to look the way the site would look when you set it to "No Style." Something seems to be blocking your access to the full site. (HTML?)

I know it is working now which makes things more difficult but have you checked your firewall settings. One other thing comes to mind and that is whether your version of java meets the requirements of the browser. Sometimes this will effect newer versions of FF 3.6+

 

Yes, I also checked the firewall settings and tried to turn them off temporarily just to see if itll be ok. It shows the same result. I thought of the idea that somethings blocking it, but I really cant pinpoint where, because all the sites other than this two are working fine. All ran my anti virus software (i use bit defender) but the 2 computers are clean.I am suspecting a configuration change in xp. However, I havent done any this past few months.would it be a vius that was not detected?

 

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I removed and reinstalled firefox (now at 4.0) with the same result

Frankly I am not expert enough in Malware removal (which is an overstatement) I will bring this to the attention of our experts in this field. Keep in mind that the time difference may be sever for you since they are Europe. I am guessing that this is has more to do with some setting somewhere but, then again, it is never a good idea to rule out malware.

 

That would be of great help, yes I would like to keep my options open as it may be a setting change (which I never did) or a malware virus, even though my anti-virus is also updated. I scared BeeCeeBee if both my computers go down, Im dead meat I appreciate so much the help.

 

Lets just wait and see what Starbuck has to say. It does not appear that you are in immediate danger of a complete meltdown so I would not worry too much.
