I ran into this problem. It says Windows Explorer has stopped working,
shuts down and then it restarts Windows Explorer.

    I found Broadcom's WIDCOMM 6.1 driver/software causes problems with
Explorer, so I uninstalled it. I still have some Bluetooth service with the
Kensington Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, but not as extensive as with the WIDCOMM
    software.

Corrupted media files will also cause Windows Explorer to crap out randomly.
After working fine for mins after boot, then it would all of a sudden stop
working everytime I opened My Computer. I downloaded ShellExView and
disabled Video Thumbnail Extractor. I eventually found the corrupted the
video file. I couldn't open and play it even though I had all kinds of
codecs installed and it used to open fine. I deleted it and turned Video
Thumbnail Extractor back on. This is just to point out that instead of
generating an error on what file caused the problem, Windows Explorer will
opt to stop working. So the problem could be something else not listed.

ok i tried ShellExView, disabling one by one, but is there a better
solution? I have the right click syndrome as i read thru searches. Is my
only option to reformat? Also why does this happen? Thanks anyone.

After installing some windows updates, I was having issues as well. The
error is most notable when attempting to move files in windows explorer
(right click, and windows explorer crashes). The error showed iexplorer
as the culprit, but upon more investigation, it turned out to be WMP.

Fix for me was to download shellmenuview from 'ShellMenuView -
Disable/enable context menu items of Explorer'

Run the program. Look for greyed out items, highlight them, then right
    click and select "enable selected."

Then try to replicate your problem to see if it is fixed.

Thank you i did what you explained above, all greyed out items i
enabled, rebooted, everything looked fine. Then it just happened, i
opened explorer and double clicked on a folder, BOOM, it crashes, i need
to close with the x on the right upper corner, then i restart. This is
annoying, planning on reformatting, i use acronis image file, but it
sucks that i have an image from 4/25/2009 date, and i killed the first
image that just had clean install and updates. I dont want to reformat,
hope for other suggestions and simple ones since i'm a rookie.
    Everything shows disbled in shellmenu.
