Acer Aspire 4720z laptop, Vista. Am going to reinstall the o.s. Last time, M$ updates installed scads at a time. I'm asking for advice for installing all the (0ver 300) updates. Should I do them in, say groups of 5 or 10, with restart in between? I have some strange glitches since I reinstalled last time.

If you do the service packs first and create a restore point before each one that will save you some time. I would do the criticals first and then create a Restore Point. And I think doing 5-10 at a time will be a pain staking chore. I doubt the updates cause many issues but on the other hand driver updates I would completely avoid and it would not hurt to avoid the non critical software updates either. Or you could do the non criticals as a group making a restore point first.
