I have a DC 5850 Small form factor computer, and just added 2 Gigs of memory, and for some reason computer would not come back on! ...everything sounded like it was OK, but the monitor stayed Black, I removed the sticks and it started working normally. I have checked the bars and they seem to be the correct ones from Crucial Memory. Any Ideas what this might be?

It sounds as if your RAM is either incompatible or it's no good.
What type of RAM did you purchase and what type came with your computer?
It's not really a good idea to ever mix RAM sticks.

Hello What I received from Crucial is 4GB Kit (2 x 2GB) DDR2-800 UDIMM : CT824415 and there are 2 slots left in the PC for those bars. The Ram it presently has is 2GB but I don't know their specifics, I will have to pull them out and look if you need those details.

I ran the scan before I purchased, and I just ran it again to confirm, but it states compatible memory is Crucial 2GB DDR2-800 UDIMM which seems to be what I received.

Have you tried removing the original RAM and replacing it with the new RAM in the same slots?

No I have not done that! ..the Original HP Ram is 1 GB per bar. ..You say I should pull those out and replace in their slots the New Crucial 2 GB bars?

Yes, lets make sure first that the new RAM is good and we'll go from there.

Hello Cindy, I switched the new bars into the old memory slots and it is working! plus Its showing 4GB where before the PC was only 2GB. ...Do you think I should attempt to add those two old 1GB bars to the other slots?

Just add one first, then if it boots, add the other.
