Hi Dizz and welcome aboard. From scanning the Acronis Forums I have found the following answers.....
    1) Can Acronis 2014 Restore and image file from within Windows:
Reported on November 3 7 users state and all agree:
Responders are flustered asking for all kinds of infor from make and model of pc to custom build etc...no one has answers yet.
Another raises a question is there a rescue cd that works for Windows 8.1 and receives answer that Acronis Premium version now offerrs a Win Pe disk. However the instructions to how to make that seems to take everyone nowhere
and the user gives up suggesting Macrium Reflect may be the only solution.
Another thread reminds me of the Acronis 2013 system I installed to that never booted again after simply installing the software.
Another user then [piles in with a whole host of similarities and several try to get them to alter their software with no proven affect. The only way they solved their problems was ti uninstall Acronis 2014 and leave it off system.
From the Wishlist I especially enjoy #8:
    Dizz,
You know me and the reason I went to the Acronis forum to answer you is I wanted the most up to date information. I saw mention in the instructions to disable "Secure Boot" and enable "Legacy Bios" to restore image file using Acronis 2014 and that means to me nothing is new from 2013 except a new year date. After what happened to my Windows 8 pcs I cannot dare try Acronis again for anything unless I believe the problems have been solved but for those here reading this who do not know I will briefly explain.

On a new Acer Touch 14" laptop I was making Image files with 2013 Acronis True Image for a month. I installed Windows 7 from Windows 8 on that pc since power management didn't work in Windows 8 and with a few other issues decided to restore an image file of Windows 8 made earlier. The image file completed and the laptop never booted again though Acronis stated the restore was successful. In addition to that I could not see the hard drive no matter what I did so I had to send the laptop to Acer for repair. When it came back I sold it on Amazon after deciding I could never trust it again. I had replaced it with a Sony 14" Vaio E series touch screen laptop and after installing all my programs I installed Acronis True Image 2013 and it never booted again. That is when I discovered System Restore defaults to disabled in many of these new Windows 8 laptops and I wound up reinstalling Windows all over again from "soup to nuts". I will never use Acronis again on anything I care about. I know the issues occur because of Secure Boot and UEFI bios but it would appear nothing is new at Acrronis as I see no article whatsoever except isuue after issue with the same problems I faced.

Oh and there was one more problem I just loved the solution on:
The solution given him was to delete the scheduled task and set it up again and I had a laugh from that one.

One of the things in your post I reacted to incidentally was all the senseless discussion of disk size on the forum you came from which was especially funny among folks who have never used Acronis or many other backup programs but for the last 5 versions Acronis does automatically adjust on restore to any new sized hard drive however using an Acronis image by restoring it to a brand new hard drive and expecting it to boot as you were being told will almost never work because for some odd reason even though the image file does include the MBR and states that it is restoring it with the main image file, it never does. You have to clone the drive for that to work if the drive is new and that has long been an issue with Acronis and the same is true for using an SSD drive BTW but we will let them learn that on their own! OK?

As you know I recently restored my system using an image made with Macrium stored on my EXT HD. Problem is I cannot make a Macrium rescue disk on this Lenovo desk top and had to have you make a rescue disk for me which caused me to not want to use Macrium even though I liked it. I have tried Easus TO DO which I like as I can make a TODO rescue disk which boots right up BUT when I tried to restore an image using I gave up as it was taking FOREVER. That said I wonder if the NEWEST version of TODO has solved that problem and will it restore in a reasonable amount of time? Does anyone on this BBS have experience with it?

My next question to the group concerns Paragon does it work has anyone tried it?
