A little more information on this aircraft. During an air show NAS New Orleans, Belle Chasse, Louisiana in the 1960s. This F-11F Tiger was the number 6 aircraft and it flamed out on take off just as the gear went up. It bellied in on the runway and was left at the Naval Air Station where it was fixed up and used as the gate guard until a few years ago.

In partnership with the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida, the Port of South Louisiana has acquired the sponsorship rights to the Blue Angel aircraft displayed at the entrance to the Port of South Louisiana’s Executive Regional Airport in Reserve, Louisiana. The aircraft is an original Grumman F-11 Tiger jet fighter that flew with the U.S. Navy flight demonstration team in 1967.
