I have an XPS M1730 Gaming laptop recently purchased second hand I would really like to upgrade the OS to Windows 8-10 but am being told I'll require a full motherboard rebuild to do so I'm 18 on Monday wage and a student just wondering if there is possible a way around the rebuild as I don't know a whole heap about computers but my sister has a laptop from 2003 with Windows 7 that is 5 years earlier than when my laptop is so I guess that's what makes me confused as to why id be...

I am writing this in safe mode (with networking) because in normal mode, Windows Vista is freezing up after a few seconds to a few minutes.

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A205 (from 2007) and I have done a factory reset using the original discs (several times).

I thought it may be the windows updates causing the problem, so I disabled windows updates after factory reset and it made no difference.

I need to get this fixed in the next two weeks without a computer technician.

Since yesterday, my connection time for each internet page has suddenly blown out to 30 seconds or longer.
For example, after typing in google.com.au, I am left watching a blank page with "connecting" in the tab and a spinning circle.

I checked my internet speed with Ookla, and it's over 40 Mbps. (see screenshot)
It took many attempts to get this test up and running as it kept timing out.

So what is the problem likely to be and how can I diagnose and...

The official Adobe reader site has not got VISTA on it's drop down menu for the various versions.
This seems very strange to me.

I tried their Windows 7 version of adobe and the Windows XP SP3 and neither of these will install.

I have also tried installing most of the alternative free PDF readers and most of them won't...

2 police scanners.

1. Is hooked up to the PC sound card and Using Pro Scan to record.

2. Scanner # 2 is hooked up via USB Sound Card but when I plug it in, I check the device manager and notice that device manager does not show up. When I go to volume mixer it's listed there. I need to be able to hook scanner #2 up to record on Proscan which you can, But in the program to change audio it says "Unknown" before there Microphone & Delkin forget...

I can access the drive with no problem with the user account that's logged on with. I can't access the other account.

I can boot up the hdd from my case docking station, I get to the log in screen where it shows both user accounts but I don't have any keyboard/mouse control/access from my system to enter either account.
