My pc keeps spinning and spinning the cusor for long periods before navigating. It is very slow using both left and right clicks and with every app I try to pull up. Plus it can no longer walk and chew gum at the same time. Try to do two things at once and it whites out/freezes up. Often I have to use task mgr to close an app before moving on. Sometimes task mgr gets stuck and then its hard boot time. I have done the usual things like running TFC and Malware Bytes but still have the problem. Thanks for any advice. ( Attached is system info)

    Hi Dave,

Try booting the system with a 'Clean Boot' and see if the system is still running slow.
This will give an indication if the problem is software or hardware related.

Hold down the Windows key on your keyboard and press the R key.
With the Run dialogue window open, type in msconfig and click the OK button.

You should now be looking at the System Configuration window. Click on the Services tab.

On the Services tab, you'll notice a long list of services available on your PC
First, check the box labeled Hide All Microsoft Services. <<<<<<<<<<< Important
Next, click the Disable All button

By performing these two steps, you have effectively turned off all services from third-party software developers.
All Microsoft services remain intact and will be ready to load when you reboot Windows
    .

Finally, click the OK button and reboot the system

When you reboot, you may get messages that certain hardware and software are not unavailable. This is normal.

Just be sure to hide all Microsoft services before you use the Disable All button. Otherwise, you may encounter boot up errors when you reboot your PC.

Remember, running Windows like this is just temporary.

To restore Windows to a normal start up functionality:
    • Start the System Configuration Utility again (MSCONFIG)
    • On the "General" tab:
    • Click to select "Normal Startup"
    • Click "OK"
    • Choose the "Exit with Restart" option to restart your computer.

Let us know if the system runs any better in the Clean Boot mode.

Hi Starbuck, did the msconfig thing. Got a notice that Firefox incompatible with Win so I un-installed it. I also noticed that I keep getting a string of 8's across the screen when I use keyboard. Even happened when I logged into CHF. So I must have a keyboard issue. Using virtual KB now. I reset config to normal and so far all looks well as far as running apps. I can live with the virtual KB. Happened to another old pc also I own. Thanks.

    Hi Dave,

I use Firefox on Win7, Win8.1 and Win10 without any problems.

    Sounds like a key sticking.

Did the system run any better in the 'Clean Boot' mode?

I also removed the keypad which eliminated the stuck key issue. I use the virtual pad now. Yes, it runs normally now. I guess it was not Firefox at all, just happened to be in the browser when the key stuck. Thanks much.
