Ok, so first here's some info on the laptop I have:
    •It's a Toshiba Satelite C55
•it's battery is dead, it's always on a charger
•it's rather slow, always at 100% disk
    • and its about 2 years old

I've booted up normal safe mode successfully, but when I navigate to the safe mode menu and hit f5, the computer freezes and chashes. Please help, I know nothing about computers.

    Hello and welcome Max?,

So the computer boots properly in Safe Mode, but freezes when booting to Safe Mode with Networking. I assume it also freezes when booting in Normal Mode. If this has just started, try doing a System Restore to an earlier date.
