How often should I run a FULL scan? I run a Quick scan every few days but avoid the full scan which take maybe 9-10 hours to finish. I am running one now and it started at 9:45 AM and is still going now at5:42 pm.

If your quick scan shows something, I'd run a full scan.
If your computer isn't running properly or acting strangely, like unexpected pop-ups or web redirects, then I would run a full scan.
Other than that, I feel a quick scan is usually sufficient.

The Full Scan finally finished and found the following item. I did not know what to do but remove it. SO I REMOVED IT. Also it said MSE is no longer supported by Windows 7. I never realized that. What should I do? My quick scans hardly ever IF ever found anything. This was a full scan that lasted 10 hours or more. I do not really want to upgrade to windows 10 or 11. What are my options and your recommendations? Thanks for any suggestions.

I usually just run the quick scans for they are not hours and hours long. I did remove this threat the full scan found and it said successful. But I do not really waant to upgrade at this point and am usure what to do right now. I am glad whatever this was is gone and hope it is true.

I'm not sure where you got the misinformation that MS Security Essentials is no longer supported on Windows 7.
As you can see my definitions were updated yesterday.

We have it installed and running on four Windows 7 computers. When I download a file, before I install it, one of the things I do is right click it and scan it with both MS Security Essentials and Malwarebytes. It continues to work on our computers.

When I finished the scan (Full scan) with MSE there was a notice saying it was no longer supported in windows 7 and I should upgrade to windows 10. I rarely if ever ran a full scan because they take all day. The quick scan I run every few days is over shortly and hardly ever finds anything wrong. Is there anything I should do or check to be sure? Or try to check for update?
I just checked and it said item quarantinedd so removed it immediately as recommended.

I restarted PC and the icon was back. I turned it on and chose Start Now. It seems OK.

TO PLODR: Here is where I read it: I searched and got this ......."Can I still download Microsoft Security Essentials?
Why is Microsoft Security Essentials no longer available? Windows 7

is no longer supported and availability of new installations of

Microsoft Security Essentials has ended. We recommend all

customers move to Windows 10 and Windows Defender Antivirus for

    our best security option."

You can't download a new instance of it but it will still work on your PC.

Seem to have gotten it working again as I thought it should be. I do not really want to get a new computer or an upgrade at my age.

As long as you have it on your computer, it will work because the definitions are still being updated.

There is a working download link that was posted on another site but I have to find the time to really search for the link.

Used MSE and MWB Free today. Seem OK. Looked in C drive for folders. The MWB folder properties say installed December 2018. Cannot find a MSE unless it is Microsft Security Client which says 2013.
